We are easing attendance restrictions for in-person services, especially for any individuals who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Fully vaccinated people are not required to wear face masks.
If you're planning to attend in-person services, please contact Rabbi Ferro (rabbi@nhs-cba.org, 513-274-9668) or Rabbi Azriel (admin@nhs-cba.org, 513-931-6038) so that we can manage the "guest list" as well as honors and duties for the service.
These services will also still be available virtually with the NHS Zoom Link ( CLICK HERE ) and streaming to our Youtube channel ( CLICK HERE ).
Religious services are an important part of congregational life at Northern Hills Synagogue. Services are participatory and generally lay led. We encourage people of all ages to lead services and grow in their roles as service leaders.
Services are mostly in Hebrew. We take historical tradition as our base line, and make adjustments based on the needs of the congregation. We do a full Torah reading on Shabbat morning, and strive to make the Torah reading engaging and educational, with an opportunity for discussion.
For the times of services for holidays and festivals, see the NHS Calendar. Our calendar features the times for candle lighting and Havadalah, unless otherwise listed, as well as the Hebrew date. Minyanim can be arranged for yahrzeit observance. Contact the Office Administrator at (513) 931-6038 or Bev Shapero at dglass6565@aol.com.
Our regular service times are as follows:
Shabbat Programming:
In addition to traditional services every week, Northern Hills Synagogue also offers a variety of Shabbat programs to keep the Shabbat experience fresh and engaging for all ages:
Talmud Study:
Study Talmud every Shabbat morning at 8:45 AM.
First Fridays:
On the first Friday of each month Shabbat services are held at 8:00 PM and include a guest speaker—usually a congregant speaking about a special area of expertise or interest. We welcome your ideas for speakers and topics! Please contact Sonia Milrod at smilrod@gmail.com with your suggestions.
Lay-led D'var Torah:
Occasionally, the interpretation of the weekly Torah portion is presented by a member of our congregational community, providing a knowledgeable and eclectic exploration of diverse points of view.
