Mercaz & High School Programming

Northern Hills Synagogue students participate in Mercaz, the joint high school program of the Conservative congregations in Cincinnati.  A variety of classes for grades 8 through 12 are offered on Sunday evenings.  Students choose two different courses to take each semester.  Northern Hills students are able to meet, socialize and learn with other Jewish high school aged students in Cincinnati during their Mercaz class sessions.

Northern Hills Synagogue offers a separate Confirmation class for our 10th graders.  The class enables students to focus on important themes addressed in their Jewish education from a more mature perspective, and apply Jewish values to their experiences as teenagers.

We encourage our high school students to build on their Jewish education through active participation in our North Cincy United Synagogue Youth chapter, and by involvement in congregational activities.  We are always delighted to have them apply the skills learned in preparing for Bar and Bat Mitzvah by leading services and reading Torah and Haftorah during Shabbat and holiday services.
