NEW VIRTUAL PROGRAMS AT NHS
We want to share with you some new upcoming virtual programs. They are already added to the Calendar and will be included in the program update coming out Saturday night.
Thursdays 5/7-5/28 Pirkei Avot
7:30pm - 8:30pm
Rabbi George Barnard will be teaching a series on Pirkei Avot.
Wisdom for life from our Jewish sages! Learn how to live with other people, with yourself, and with God, through studying this classic of world ethical literature, and rediscover some of Judaism's greatest hits. Thursday evenings, 7:30-8:30pm, beginning on May 7.
Texts will be shared on the screen and can be sent to you as a word document by request to Rabbi Barnard.
Sundays Havdallah Katan
10:00am - 10:30am
It's been such a long time since we've seen each other in person.
But we can see each other virtually over Zoom!
Havdallah is a ceremony that separates Shabbat from the six days of the week. Every day feels like the same right now, but having a short ritual helps to break up the days and remind of us of the Jewish calendar.
Every Sunday, we'll be meeting for our new, weekly 10:00am Katan Family program – HAVDALLAH KATAN!
We'll sing songs, read a story, and finally see each other again!Don't forget to bring your (real or pretend) grape juice, spices, and havdallah candle!

What's your passion? What do you do to pass the time during isolation? Do you have any hobbies you can share with us to make our isolation go a little quicker? Do you have a hidden talent?
If you can answer any of these questions, we'd love to learn from you!
Each week Rabbi Schapera will talk with a member of the NHS-CBA community about something interesting. Others will have a chance to ask questions and the video will be recorded so others can learn from you at their convenience.
For Passover we sent out a virtual Pesach Seder hosted by YOU – members of the NHS-CBA community! We received such great feedback that we'd like to do something similar each week!
Each week, one member or family will record themselves reciting the three Kabbalat Shabbat prayers (Candle Lighting, Kiddush, HaMotzi). You can also throw in an interesting story, short drash on the Torah portion, prayer for the coming week, or a family friendly joke! You can record yourself or set up a time to meet via Zoom with Rabbi Schapera.
If you'd like to participate in our new Virtual Shabbat recordings, please email Rabbi Schapera at programs@nhs-cba.org. Recordings must be in by Tuesday night of each week to allow for approval, editing, and uploading in time for Shabbat.
