DONATIONS TO JEWISH HOSPITAL STAFF
From Rabbi Sam Schapera
As some of you may know, I sit on the Jewish hospital ethics committee and at our last meeting, we discussed the mental well-being of the hospital staff and they are struggling with the current influx of COVID cases.
From Toni Kanter, director of Mission Integration:
"Cards of encouragement/thanks, and individually wrapped food items are greatly appreciated ex: candy, snack bars, bags of chips/popcorn, peanut butter or cheese crackers, mints, hummus and pretzels, tuna and crackers, etc. (anything grab and go because they are constantly on the run). Because of COVID, there can't be any shared items (ex: pizza, salads).
A much-appreciated item is the alcohol-free Neutrogena (or other brands) face wipes. The masks cause perspiration, breakouts, and tender skin areas.
Gift cards for food are preferred so ordering/delivery can be scheduled based on unit activity. The cards would be given to the unit manager for ordering on behalf of the team.
I can't possibly describe how meaningful your generous giving is. Every staff member (physicians, nurses, environmental services, support services…each and all) has been "giving above and beyond" for months; I pray that the prediction for increased level of COVID diagnosis is wrong."
If you would like to donate, please leave items in my office and I will take them to Jewish Hospital on January 11.
Thank you so much for your help!
