For 60 years, volunteers at Northern Hills Synagogue - Congregation B'nai Avraham have warmed our hearts and our stomachs with delicious food from the kitchen. What better way to honor them than an evening filled with cooking?
On Saturday evening, February 1st, NHS honored all those who have made our synagogue into a home. Beginning with Havdalah led by Rabbi Noah Ferro, we then moved onto 4 cooking activities inspired by our love of food. There were 4 areas where members learned how to make traditional Jewish delicacies like hamentashen and rugelach, plus decorated sugar cookies and thumbprint cookies.
We then came back together and celebrated all who have volunteered in the kitchen for the past 60 years, with special honors for long-time kitchen volunteer Lois Pornoy. There was also a surprise birthday cake for Matt Lee!
After the program, we enjoyed the previously prepared desserts and the freshly baked cookies and rugelach.
