NORTHERN HILLS SYNAGOGUE FUNDS

Contributions to Northern Hills Synagogue may be earmarked to a variety of funds for special purposes. Click here to make an online donation to any of these funds.

THE FUND FOR THE FUTURE
Purpose: To assure our Congregation's vibrancy now and tomorrow. The Campaign raises funds to replenish our reserves to maintain and revitalize our building; fund and support a caring and talented professional staff; energize and sustain our engagement initiatives that focus on new and innovative ways  to provide a source of Jewish identity and connection for the next generation of our Cincinnati community. STEVEN & MAE ACKERMAN PROSPECTIVE MEMBER FUND
Purpose: To provide financial support for programs and efforts designed to assist NHS in attracting and welcoming new members. 

EDUCATION ENDOWMENT FUND
Purpose: Gives financial support to the Northern Hills Synagogue Religious School and to other congregational programming.

BARBARA GELBART MEMORIAL FUND
Purpose: To benefit B'nai/B'not Mitzvah from the congregation. The fund subvents the presentation of humashim, siddurim, and haggadot, and may be used from time to time for other projects for B'nai/B'not Mitzvah.

ROBERT V. GOLDSTEIN MEMORIAL FUND
Purpose: To provide for speakers and other events to enhance synagogue life.

AARON AND ROSA LICHTIN LIBRARY FUND
Purpose: To purchase books for the synagogue library. A card will be sent for any donation of $5 or more; a book for the library will be inscribed for a contribution which covers the cost of the book.

MAJOR MEMORIALS OR HONORIALS
Purpose: A wide variety of permanent memorials or honorials in the synagogue are available at costs ranging from $200 up.

MEMORIAL PLAQUES
Purpose: To memorialize loved ones with a plaque inscribed in the synagogue sanctuary ($200).

JUDITH MOND PRAYER BOOK FUND
Purpose: To provide prayerbooks for the synagogue. An inscribed prayerbook costs $36. An inscribed humash costs $54.

NHS-CBA FUND
Purpose: To support synagogue activities.

RABBI'S DISCRETIONARY FUND
Purpose: For charitable and educational purposes at the discretion of the rabbi. 
If you would like to offer support to refugees, please send to the synagogue or click on the Rabbi's Discretionary Fund on the Donation page. Put "Refugees" in the memo line. We will forward all donations to Catholic Charities of Southwest Ohio. For more ways to help, click here.

RON & SANDY RICHARDS SOCIAL ACTION & ENGAGEMENT FUND
Purpose: Support Social Action and Community Engagement initiatives of the synagogue. Current projects include IHN and the OTR Soup Kitchen, but other initiatives will likely occur in the future. The fund proceeds could also be used to provide micro-grants to offset costs of volunteer training that support their specific social action initiatives. in honor of Ron and Sandy Richards, for their 50 years with NHS, 60th wedding anniversary and 80th birthdays.

LEONARD J. SINGERMAN SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Purpose: To give financial assistance to the youth of the congregation attending summer camps with intensive Jewish programs or participating in educational programs in Israel.

SHABBAT MEALS FUND
Purpose: To help defray the cost of our monthly lunches. 

JULIUS AND GERTRUDE SASS MEMORIAL FUND
Purpose: To purchase ritual articles for the synagogue, or in other ways to support the religious life of the congregation..

YOUTH SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Purpose: The congregation will make grants from this special youth fund to help young people from the congregation take part in regional and national USY and Kadima activities. Applications are available at the synagogue and school office.

ZORNDORF CAMPAIGN FOR TOMORROW FUND
Purpose: Finance construction, maintenance, and furnishing of synagogue building.

ZUCKMAN TORAH FUND
Purpose: To maintain the synagogue Torahs.

NHS SISTERHOOD FUNDS

Except where otherwise noted, the minimum contribution, a check to the order of Northern Hills Synagogue Sisterhood, is $5.00.

Available for embroidered inscriptions of happy occasions. Each inscription will include the name(s), occasion(s), and dates at a price of $18. Beneficiaries of gift inscriptions will be notified with a gift card.

CHILDREN’S LIBRARY FUND

Purpose: To provide books, audio visual teachers aides, videos, and other visual aides (games, etc.) for the NHS Youth Library. A card will be sent for any donation of $5 or more. Book plates have a $20 minimum cost.

SIMCHA TREE

Purpose: Major purchases for the synagogue. The tree is located in the lobby of the synagogue; brass leaves commemorating happy events such as births, bar/bat mitzvahs or anniversaries can be engraved for a donation of $54.

SYNAGOGUE BEAUTIFICATION FUND

YOUTH ACTIVITIES FUND
