Wednesday, May 18, 2016 12 noon A Program of Music by Jewish Composers from the American Popular Songbook NHS Hazak presented a delicious lunch buffet, followed by cantor Sharon Hordes, daughter of NHS members Don and Elaine Hordes, in a delightful program of well-known and some not so well-known songs. NHS member Claire Lee accompanied on the piano. Sharon Hordes serves as cantor at Keneseth Israel Congregation in Louisville, KY. She is a member of the Cantors Assembly and the Women Cantors Network. She also serves on the board of the National Council of Jewish Women, Louisville section. She received a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Indiana University School of Music and received her cantorial training through a joint program established by the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College and Gratz College. In June 2002, she became the first cantor to become invested through the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College.
